New house at Watcombe, Devon
This custom-designed house lies on a secluded site within a protected Conservation Area. The sensitive nature of the site was a key consideration at the design stage. Our response was to create a modern building, nestling in the soft landscape, using local natural materials in an eclectic manner. The quality of the proposed design was a mitigating factor in the grant of consent to build within this important Coastal Preservation Zone. The building provides 6 bedrooms with living and dining rooms at an elevated level to gain the best possible view. Other accommodation includes a self contained annexe, basement play room, and open plan office. All of the spaces subtly relate to the landscape and the house was designed to make the best of the steeply sloping, tree lined site.
